A Quick Word on Nutrition

There has been a lot of research into dog nutrition over the past couple of years - from everything like vegetarianism to the unappealingly-named "Barf Diet" (Bones and Raw Food). It seems sometimes that dog nutrition is as debated as politics!

All we know is the sad truth - a heck of a lot of health problems are due to nutrition, for humans and dogs alike. It's our duty to make sure that our friends are getting the food they need and want; just because they can't talk to us doesn't mean we can't find out just what they need - the information is out there!

The Leader of the Dog Pack at Dog City, Ellie Storch, took a semester-long independent study at the University of Colorado on dog and cat nutrition so that we could try to get to the bottom of this mystery. It was our vision to create an on-site store to provide only the best of the best in dog nutrition, and thanks to Ellie's hard work and research, we've got it! Next time you come in to drop off your dog (or pick them up), take a moment to take a look around. And please feel free to talk to Ellie about any nutritional concerns you might have; she's always willing to help!

For general information on your dog's nutritional needs, the National Academy of Sciences provides a detailed report on dog metabolism, carbohydrate requirements, and a lot of other really interesting information. Here's the link to their main page, Petdoor. We think you'll enjoy taking a look at this.

Also, if any of you out there think that there's a product you've found that you think we should carry, let us know! You can either comment through our Dog Blog or tell us when you drop by. We're always interested in feedback!
